How do you get a good internet connection for an ipod touch?

I might get an ipod touch and I've been reading on it trying to figure out how to get a good internet connection so if im traveling or something I can get internet connection. can anyone help me?How do you get a good internet connection for an ipod touch?
MAKE YOUR OWN WIFI CONNECTION FROM COMPUTER!!!








you do not need to buy a router. all you need to do is go to 'control panel' in your 'start menu' on your computer and then click on network and internet connections. then u need to click on network connections. after that, a window should pop up and it should have something that says 'local area connection' and 'wireless network connection'. right click on the 'wireless network connection', and then go to 'properties'. once u do that, if something says u dont have privaliges, then click 'OK' (this might not happen)


and then click on the 'wireless networks tab'. after u do that, u need to click 'add' and then UNCHECK the box that says 'connect even if this network is not broadcasting'


then, click on the 'connection tab' and then CHECK 'connect when this network is in range'


next, u need to go back to the 'association tab' and then where it says 'Network name (SSID):' type in a name that you want your wifi connection to be called.


after this step, make sure the first down arrow box says 'shared' not 'open'.


once u do this, make sure the data encryption is 'WEP' and not 'DISABLED' (this will make a password for your wifi connection, so no one can get into your internet.)


then UNCHECK the box that says 'The key is provided for me automatically' and then make a 5 digit password in the 'network key:' box and the same password for the 'Confirm network key:' box.


then click 'OK' at the bottom.





after all this, make sure ur connection says automatic by it. and then turn on wifi on your computer. if you have a laptop, click Function F5 and then turn on wifi or wireless radio. if you have a desktop computer, then wifi should already be turned on. then go to your ipod touch and go to settings and then wifi. then click on your own wifi connection and type in the password you made. then you are connected!!!!





if this doesn't work, go to start and then run. then type in 'cmd' and then type in 'ipconfig /all' this will give you ur IP address. and then go to your ipod touch and then click on the blue arrow beside the connection under wifi, and then click on 'STATIC' and then type in the IP address that the black and white text screen says. and then the DNS server and then the subnet one. (should be 255.255.255.0 or something like that) and then everything else)





now u will be 100% connected to wifi if wifi is turned on on your computer. if this does not work, then go back to control panel, network connections, right click on wireless internet and go to properties and click on the add button and make another wifi connection.

You have to be somewhere that offers Wi-Fi connection. Most coffee shops and such offer this, and outside of the door it may say something like ';Wi-Fi Hot Spot!';


Also, if you have a wireless internet connection in your house (Such as if you have a wireless router in your basement or something, I believe you would need a high-speed internet connection), you can get internet on your iPod through the wireless internet connection in your house.

well you need to have wi-fi in your house.


if you're traveling, its kinda impossible to get connection if your in a car or on a plane.


some hotels have wi-fi connection, however, so if you're away from home you can use that for your laptop or ipod touch.


also, if you're out of town, go to restaurants such as panera bread because they have free wi-fi connection
if your traveling in a car or plane its pretty much impossible to get wifi cuz your moving.


but if your at a hotel you can get wifi if they have it.. also some restaurants offer free wifi, like starbucks and panera.


ALSO, if you dont have wifi in your house, you prob. shouldnt get it cuz your house is probably where your gonna use it most (at least thats how it is for me..)
