Do you have a laptop or Desktop? If you have a laptop you may have a wireless card built in (but not all laptops do), simply search for a signal. If you have a desktop you will need to buy a wireless receiver. We have one on our desktop. I've provided a link below (but take note: there are several different ones out there to choose from), simply hook it up to your USB port, and then install it. Then do a search for a wireless signal.

If you aren't sure, I'd leave well alone.
Dont listen to any advice apart from get a qualified electritian or a part p registerd electrician to look at it .. especially with it being a bathroom and you obvyesly dont no the required mesurements for fitting electrical items near bathroom appliances, will only be a simply quick cheap job really .. unlesss u want it doing neatly which you will have to chisel into the wall then replaster an redecorate, will only be a simple spur off the shaver.

192.168.0.xxx (where xxx is a number from 1 to 254).
Subnet mask is then 255.255.255.0
Gateway/Router is blank (or 0.0.0.0)
DNS is also blank (or 0.0.0.0)
Under XP, you can change the address by opening ';Network Connections'; in the control panel. Pull up properties on the ';Local Area Connection';; find ';Internet Protocol'; in the list and hit properties.

I tell one thing my friend. You cannot increase speed unless you subscribe for it from Airtel itself. You cannot increase the speed by artificially. Recently i've been plugging my 360 into the router directly and the connection has been great. I know your Xbox may not been in the same room as your router and modem but if you talk to your isp you can talk to them about making the internet port active in the room of your Xbox so you can plug it straight into the wall. What are packets on my internet connection and how does that effect my speed?
There are packets on my internet connection and the fewer there are the slower my connection. My real question is does this really effect my connection and how do I get them higher if I reset my connection? your packets do correlate to the speed of your net. but its hard to draw any conclusions from them. its not like you can change your packets to change the speed of your internet. theyre more like indicators, or something to look at to confirm a net problem. if you want a true net speed test.. try www.2wire.com or www.dslreports.com but as for trying to change or if you are having problems with you connection, try resetting your router or modem if you have them, and if not those.. its most likely the service provider. they can reset your connection if you call customer service.What are packets on my internet connection and how does that effect my speed?
Data is sent over the internet in';packets,'; small batches of data each of which a server sends by what it detects as the most efficient route at that instant. I believe that the max size can be adjusted, and if lowered it may speed things up.
';packets'; are the internet`s connection units of establishing if your connection is functional or not, the more tyou have the beter it is, meaning that if you have too few, specially at the ';received'; section, you may have a problem with your connection......it does not influente the speed of downloads or browsing.....it`s just a indicator for connection.
How to describe packets in lay terms....hmmmm. Let's see. If you think of the words you're going to put in a letter to you mom as the data bits, then each page becomes a byte. When you have several bytes, it's best to package them into an envelope, rather than try to send them one by one. Each packet will have a bit of overhead (think of your mom's address on the outside of the envelope, as well as your return address, and the postage stamp).
Data packets work much the same way. They have starting addresses, destination addresses, and cyclic redundancy checking (this is how each element in your transmission route makes sure the data is received correctly). Having fewer packets does not mean your connection speed is slower, it just indicates that your usage is less than optimal.
Think of a multi-lane highway, but take away the lane markers. How wide a load could you move down that road? If you're driving a Smart Car in a space that you could drive a triple-wide motor-home, then you're not utilizing all of the bandwidth available.

you do not need to buy a router. all you need to do is go to 'control panel' in your 'start menu' on your computer and then click on network and internet connections. then u need to click on network connections. after that, a window should pop up and it should have something that says 'local area connection' and 'wireless network connection'. right click on the 'wireless network connection', and then go to 'properties'. once u do that, if something says u dont have privaliges, then click 'OK' (this might not happen)
and then click on the 'wireless networks tab'. after u do that, u need to click 'add' and then UNCHECK the box that says 'connect even if this network is not broadcasting'
then, click on the 'connection tab' and then CHECK 'connect when this network is in range'
next, u need to go back to the 'association tab' and then where it says 'Network name (SSID):' type in a name that you want your wifi connection to be called.
after this step, make sure the first down arrow box says 'shared' not 'open'.
once u do this, make sure the data encryption is 'WEP' and not 'DISABLED' (this will make a password for your wifi connection, so no one can get into your internet.)
then UNCHECK the box that says 'The key is provided for me automatically' and then make a 5 digit password in the 'network key:' box and the same password for the 'Confirm network key:' box.
then click 'OK' at the bottom.
after all this, make sure ur connection says automatic by it. and then turn on wifi on your computer. if you have a laptop, click Function F5 and then turn on wifi or wireless radio. if you have a desktop computer, then wifi should already be turned on. then go to your ipod touch and go to settings and then wifi. then click on your own wifi connection and type in the password you made. then you are connected!!!!

you can change your IP address to 192.168.1.100 - and it will think its behind a router (presumably). Do this will prevent you from getting on the internet, so you'll have to change it when you want to surf.
Or you can buy a router and plug your internet connection into it and then plug your PC into it.

Getting a router is your best bet, you can also try using Zone Alarm firewall, this is a software only firewall so this may not help but you can try it
Your router moves one bit of info to another internet transporter before launching the signal.
You must have a router because its the only item that contains a data transporter.

The name/type of software would really help, but I'm guessing what is probably happening is that you have cable Internet. Some/most of Cable Internet providers' modems hand out a public IP address to your PC in order to enable it to access the Internet. I'm guessing the software you're using, needs your PC to have a private IP address 192.168.xxx.xxx. DSL does this, but it's probably easier to buy/install a router, rather than switch ISP's. But again, the name/type of software would really help shed some light on this...
There are two general types of IP addresses, public and private.
Public IP addresses are addresses predefined as public and these are ';routeable'; meaning that routers will transfer them upstream to other routers and get them to their ultimate location. Remember the internet is a maize of routers and connections so if an IP is Public it is routeable and out it goes.
Private IP addresses are not routeable. Routers will NOT transfer that IP address upstream. In fact, they will transfer that IP to the router's public WAN IP address (called Network Address Translation or NAT) and send it out if it needs to go out.
Private IP addresses include the commonly seen 192.168.x.y format (where x and y both range from 0 - 255) as well as other Private IP addresses.
When you connect a pc to a network that has a router or other DHCP server, the pc is given a private non-routeable IP address when the pc's LAN port is set to obtain an IP automatically.
When you connect a pc to a modem (DSL or Cable TV, or any other dynamic public IP address ethernet device), and the pc LAN port is set to obtain an IP address automatically, it will receive the dynamic IP from the ISP. This is a public, routeable IP address.
Apparently you have only 1 pc at your location. Also, I suspect you need to get to the Internet with this software or it would not be so concerned about the public IP and the lack of a router. If you had 2 or more pcs you could set up Internet Connection Sharing. This is a lot of work (you need a second Network Card, separate IP subnets, a fair amount of configuration, etc) and a router is probably easier to use.
You may want to carefully examine your software and see if you can change the set up to permit you to use it with an Internet connection that provides a dynamic IP address. There may be an option but I suspect not.

you can do a google search for software that will mask your IP, you can try changing it to 192.168.1.100 or something similar and it *may* trick the software, but doubt it.How to hide my computers direct connection to the internet without a router?
you can change your IP address to 192.168.1.100 - and it will think its behind a router (presumably). Do this will prevent you from getting on the internet, so you'll have to change it when you want to surf.
Or you can buy a router and plug your internet connection into it and then plug your PC into it.
Tell us the software and we might know ways to fix it.
Getting a router is your best bet, you can also try using Zone Alarm firewall, this is a software only firewall so this may not help but you can try it
Your router moves one bit of info to another internet transporter before launching the signal.
You must have a router because its the only item that contains a data transporter.
This is the easiest i can explain it.

The name/type of software would really help, but I'm guessing what is probably happening is that you have cable Internet. Some/most of Cable Internet providers' modems hand out a public IP address to your PC in order to enable it to access the Internet. I'm guessing the software you're using, needs your PC to have a private IP address 192.168.xxx.xxx. DSL does this, but it's probably easier to buy/install a router, rather than switch ISP's. But again, the name/type of software would really help shed some light on this...
There are two general types of IP addresses, public and private.
Public IP addresses are addresses predefined as public and these are ';routeable'; meaning that routers will transfer them upstream to other routers and get them to their ultimate location. Remember the internet is a maize of routers and connections so if an IP is Public it is routeable and out it goes.
Private IP addresses are not routeable. Routers will NOT transfer that IP address upstream. In fact, they will transfer that IP to the router's public WAN IP address (called Network Address Translation or NAT) and send it out if it needs to go out.
Private IP addresses include the commonly seen 192.168.x.y format (where x and y both range from 0 - 255) as well as other Private IP addresses.
