I have a macintosh with leopard connected to the internet via ethernet connection. It has the ability to use wifi, therefore it has output capabilities. I am wondering if I can access the internet on a different computer (a macbook pro with snow leopard) without having to get a router. So, in short, I want to know if I can turn my macintosh into a wifi transmitter. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks! How do I make my mac a wireless access point?
Yup... you can.
Go to System Preferences -%26gt; Sharing -%26gt; Internet Sharing. Share your AirPort. Choose Airport option and enable WEP encryption, add a password, and give your access point a name. That should do it!How do I make my mac a wireless access point?
You need to create an ad-hoc WiFi access point. It's super easy. Click on the WiFi icon at the top of the screen and click ';create network'; - follow the prompts, and that's it. Then sign onto the network you just created using the MacBook Pro and start surfing the web!
Keep in mind that if your desktop goes to sleep you will loose internet on the MacBook Pro.
