How do I make a wireless connection work on my laptop?

I live in a house with wireless internet and it works on most of the laptops and all of the desktops. We just select the connection in the Wirless Connections box and it works fine for everyone else. But for my laptop it doesn't. It shows up in the wireless connections box but I try and connect and it gives me an error message after trying to connect. It says that the connection is ';hidden'; and I need to change it. What do I do?How do I make a wireless connection work on my laptop?
I think your wireless card doesn't support the wi-fi enability. please check your card. if it still doesnt work contact the supplier of the laptop.
